For those who love to walk, there are more than 150 hiking routes to choose from, varying in difficulty. Local mountain schools offer not only classic high-altitude hikes but also numerous themed hikes:
From sunrise and sunset tours to orchid or herb hikes – in Berwang and the Tyrolean Zugspitz Arena, the trails lead to impressive waterfalls, mysterious mountain lakes, and many huts serving traditional Tyrolean delicacies. The highlight for the experienced is the ascent of the highest peak in Germany, the Zugspitze, standing at 2,962 meters above sea level.
Cycling and Motorcycle Tours

The Namlos and Rotlechtal valleys invite motorcycle and cycling enthusiasts to explore numerous routes through picturesque mountain landscapes.
The bike schools of the Tyrolean Zugspitz Arena offer specialized courses for beginners as well. Bikers can choose from over 100 tours with a total length of 4,330 kilometers and more than 100,000 meters of elevation gain via the online tour portal: Enjoyment riders can take in the scenery on the ride to Heiterwanger See, while extreme bikers will find new sporting challenges on the freeride track at Grubigstein in Lermoos, complete with jumps and obstacles.
At the "Sportalm" sports shop in Berwang, you can also rent E-bikes.
During the warm summer months, you can enjoy a day at the family-friendly Berwanger Bärenbad or refresh yourself after a hike. For those looking for higher altitudes, crossing the Highline 179 in Reutte is a must. This suspension bridge, soaring 114 meters high, spans the Ehrenberg Castle World and connects the ruins of Ehrenberg with Fort Claudia. A unique experience is also the descent on a mountain scooter from the Heiterwanger Hochalm through Berwang down to Bichlbach.
Always worth a visit are the King's Castles in Schwangau. Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau can be reached by car in about 30 minutes from Berwang. On rainy days, the Alpentherme Ehrenberg in Reutte invites you to relax in its beautiful sauna landscape. Children can also enjoy various pools, slides, and toddler areas. Nearby towns like Füssen, Garmisch, or Innsbruck offer shopping and various other activities when the weather isn't cooperative.
